THE COOPER MARSH
CONSERVATORS
The
Cooper Marsh Conservators is a group of enthusiastic citizens
having an environmental awareness and a determination to inform
the public about The Marsh as a wildlife refuge and an education
centre. To help achieve this goal, the conservators opened the
Visitors’ Centre each weekend during the September ’05 to June
’06 period and offered light refreshments to our visitors.
With
the active participation and partnership of the St. Lawrence
River Institute of Environmental Sciences, the conservators’
intention is to encourage the public to become aware of the
flora and fauna in our environment and the responsibilities we
have regarding that environment.
An
important aspect of the conservators’ mandate is to contribute
to the up-keep of the Visitors’ Centre. This will continue to be
realized with funds generated through the operation of the Gift
Shop & Craft Boutique and hosting such events as Craft Shows and
our annual Harvest Wine and Cheese.
