The River Institute will:

• Become the inspiration for regional environmental initiatives
   
• Identify and articulate river-related features, issues and concerns of
  common interest to communities
   
• Build bridges to surmount institutional barriers that block environmental
  improvements and progress
   
• Ensure that the recommendations and actions plans from environmental
  research are implemented
